When Tim Robbins set out to create the soundtrack for Dead Man Walking, he approached a number of blockbuster artists and asked them to contribute material for the story of a condemned prisoner on death row. Nearly every musician he approached said yes, and the works they contributed are collected here on this compelling soundtrack. Not only is the star power impressive, but the material that each artist wrote and contributed is stunning, from Bruce Springsteen's Academy Award nominated title track to the spectacular teaming of Eddie Vedder and Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn.
On the tenth anniversary of this extraordinary album comes the Legacy Edition of Dead Man Walking. this two disc collection includes a remastered audio disc of the original album, featuring a previously unreleased studio track from Eddie Vedder specifically recorded for this project, as well as a DVD of a previously unreleased concert event: "Not in Our Name" Dead Man Walking - The Concert.
Recorded in March 1988, the "Not in Our Name" concert came together in support of two anti-death penalty organizations. Hosted by Tim Robbins, the show sees the soundtrack brought live to the stage, with an incredible line up of artists such as Eddie Vedder, Ani DiFranco, Lyle Lovett and Steve Earl performing live to a sold Shrine Auditorium in L.A. This striking concert footage has never before been available and showcases nearly 2 hours of dazzling and moving performances.
Through a special arrangement with SONY/ Legacy, ActiveMusic is directly selling the "Not In Our Name" Dead Man Walking--The Concert Legacy Edition CD/DVD and the net proceeds will go to the charitable non profit organizations and causes involved in the project.
